Sharp is ending its overseas solar cell investments by transferring its one-third stake in 3Sun Srl to partner Enel Green Power SpA in Italy, without disclosing financial terms, reported Bloomberg on July 24. 3Sun is a joint venture set up by Sharp, Enel Green Power, and STMicroelectronics NV in 2010 for the production of thin-film solar panels. The withdrawal from overseas market is part of the company's reorganization efforts for its solar cell business. Sharp will continue to manufacture solar panels in Japan and provide technology to 3Sun.
